We are seeking a highly driven and disciplined Competency Manager to lead strategic upskilling and enablement initiatives across our technical talent pool. The ideal candidate will be accountable for transforming bench resources into billable consultants without exception, ensuring zero delays and no compromise in delivery quality.
This is a performance-critical role requiring hands-on leadership in training, mentoring, and preparing resources on emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies. The Competency Manager will work closely with delivery, sales, and HR to maintain a readiness pipeline of deployable talent, aligned to business demand and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement upskilling programs tailored to project demand across tools, platforms, competencies, and delivery methodologies.
- Drive end-to-end ownership for converting bench talent into billable resources with strict adherence to timelines and performance metrics.
- Establish and enforce a disciplined learning culture that emphasizes accountability, punctuality, and professional readiness.
- Regularly evaluate individual skill gaps and performance; create personalized development roadmaps for each resource.
- Coordinate with delivery and pre-sales teams to forecast skill needs and align training interventions accordingly.
- Track and report training progress, readiness levels, and conversion ratios on a weekly basis to executive leadership.
- Provide continuous coaching, feedback, and professional grooming to prepare talent for client-facing roles.
- Enforce zero-tolerance on non-performance or excuse-driven delays in deployment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in competency development, training, or resource readiness management in the IT services industry.
- Proven track record of achieving 100% bench-to-billable conversion within target timelines.
- Strong understanding of enterprise technologies (Salesforce, AI, Cybersecurity, Web Tech, etc.) and evolving IT delivery trends.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and performance management skills.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive discipline and delivery under pressure.
- Proficiency in training platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing global resource pools or Centers of Excellence (CoE).
- Certifications in project management (PMP, Agile, Scrum) or technical training (Salesforce, AWS, etc.).
- Background in pre-sales or delivery leadership roles.
